Torisho Taka by Aoki

Back at Torisho Taka. I missed this place. Used to be here every week. These days... hardly!

After a long absence, I was back with a vengence. Ordered alot more food than usual and even a bottle of sake. Of course I wasn't alone. I was sharing the bottle of sake with 2 other guys. It was the first time being at Taka for one of them. And his first time drinking sake from a Riedel sake glass. Heh! He was surprised.

The bottle of sake was decent. Got Tomomi San to recommend a bottle. We told her we liked "Nero" (a limited edition sake that we had previously at the restaurant). So she got us something similar.

And as usual, we offered the chef a glass of sake, too. The chef wanted to offer us some of his sake but we politely decline. It was a weekday night and we didn't want to get too slooshed.

Me enjoying my Diginjo in a Riedel sake glass after a long day at work

We had alot to eat that evening. The teba (chicken wings) was delicious as usual. Crispy skin. Chicken meat that slides off the bone and right into my mouth!

It was also the season for gingko nuts, so I was told by Karen (one of the ladies managing the floor). The gingko nuts had a tint of bright green and they were tasty. I ordered 2 sticks for myself. Heh! I also had the other usuals - Taka ramen with the seasoned egg (yummy, yummy!), HUGE scallops laced with honey, uzura (quail's eggs) and gyu loin (Wagyu beef). It was my first time trying the wagyu beef at Taka. Good stuff. We had it medium-rare and it was done to perfection. Still juicy and tender. Well seasoned.

I totally enjoyed myself that evening especially with the yummilicious food and good company.
